Wooden statue of god Bes
The god Bes is actually a demon known for his protective qualities of women and small children. The statue is showing an action, making music on a tamborine. This is thought of as an evil-expelling action. He is also sticking out his tongue.
Egyptian, 18th dynasty, around 1300 BC.
Found in Akhmim, Egypt.
